FishFest: The Greatest Catch

This is a short and simple fishing game I made in Gamemaker for a university assignment! 

FishFest, a celebratory and competitive festival located at the mystical Rainbow Island is held once a year. Explore, talk, shop and most importantly, fish your way to the peak of the mountain where the grand prize is awarded to the most skilled fisher at the festival! 

Upgrade your fishing rod with the gold you earn from selling fish in order to catch more difficult fish. Fish will become harder to catch the closer to the mountain you get. Gold is also used to purchase important equipment needed to clear obstacles blocking the path to the mountain. However, the more difficult the fish you land the more valuable it is!

---CONTROLS---

• Use WASD or Direction Keys to walk around.
• Hold SHIFT to walk faster.
• Hold ENTER to start casting your rod. Release to cast.
• Press ENTER when you get a bite to start reeling your catch.
• Input the QTE keys with WASD or the Direction Keys. You will automatically land your catch when you successfully complete the QTE.
• Press SPACEBAR to talk to NPCs or interact with obstacles. SPACEBAR is also used to select dialogue options and progress dialogue boxes.
• Hold SPACEBAR during dialogue to speed it up.
